Bobby Cruise, known as the "Voice of Ring of Honor" for over two decades, discussed the potential sale of ROH. On a recent episode of What Happened When?, Cruise expressed that he and other long-term staff believed WWE was the frontrunner to purchase the promotion when it went up for sale by Cary Silkin. He recalled the shock when Sinclair Broadcast Group ultimately acquired ROH instead, prompting concerns about future changes under new ownership. Since then, Tony Khan purchased ROH in 2022.
