Bocce tournament raises funds for college scholarships in Ashtabula

Sixty-four bocce players gathered at the Sons of Italy in Ashtabula on Saturday to participate in a tournament aimed at raising money for college scholarships for students connected to the club. The event, organized by Tony Pasanen Sr. and Bruce Campbell, has been ongoing for many years and is sponsored by CompTech. Over the years, the tournament has expanded from two uncovered courts to include four covered outdoor courts and indoor facilities for winter play. This year, five students received scholarships, including Claire Cafaro and four students from Saint John. Upcoming tournaments include events for veterans and women, scheduled for later this month and next month.
