Booker High football hires new coach amid roster changes and investigations

Booker High School football program has undergone significant changes since the firing of coach Carlos Woods on July 16. In the wake of Woods' dismissal, which is tied to an ongoing district investigation regarding undisclosed allegations, at least 21 players have transferred to other schools. The school announced the hiring of Lance Hoeltke as the new head coach on July 29. Hoeltke, a former University of South Florida quarterback, aims to build a strong program focused on character and leadership. Additionally, three games have been removed from the Tornadoes' schedule, including upcoming matchups against West Boca High and Venice High.
