Boston Celtics consider trade options for high-value draft pick

The NBA penalized the LA Clippers for salary cap circumvention regarding the contract of Kawhi Leonard. As a result, the LA Clippers must surrender five first-round draft picks and owner Steve Ballmer faces a $30 million fine along with a one-year suspension. This sanction increases the worth of a 2028 first-round draft asset held by the Boston Celtics. The Boston Celtics now face a decision regarding whether to use that pick to acquire a young talent or trade it alongside the expiring contract of Paul George to target a veteran superstar. While using the pick could secure a long-term cornerstone, trading the asset might provide immediate support for Jayson Tatum. The front office continues to evaluate the market to determine the best path for maintaining championship contention.
