Boston Celtics honor Tommy Heinsohn's legacy on his birthday

Tommy Heinsohn, a Boston Celtics legend, was born on this day in 1934 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Heinsohn, who earned All-American honors at the College of the Holy Cross, was selected by the Celtics through a territorial pick in the 1957 NBA Draft. He became Rookie of the Year and helped Boston secure eight championships as a player, earning six All-Star selections and four All-NBA team honors. Heinsohn later coached the team to two additional titles and served as a color commentator for 40 seasons until his death in 2020.
