Boston Celtics select Dillon Mitchell in second round of 2026 NBA Draft

The Boston Celtics have drafted forward Dillon Mitchell at No. 40 overall in the second round of the 2026 NBA Draft on June 24. A 22-year-old athlete known for his ability to attack the basket, Mitchell scored over 80 percent of his points in the paint last season. He played for three colleges in four years, most recently at St. John's University, where he averaged 8.3 points and 7 rebounds. Mitchell's outside shooting has been identified as a concern, hitting just 6.7 percent from beyond the arc in his senior season. Following this draft pick, the Celtics will consider moves for star guard Jaylen Brown.
