Bowie Jackrabbits quarterback Tyler Richey earns athlete of the week honors

Tyler Richey received KFDX/Texoma's FOX Athlete of the Week honors for his performance in recent football games. Moving from wide receiver to starting quarterback in August, Richey led the Bowie Jackrabbits to two consecutive victories to open their season. In a 54-6 win against Bridgeport last Friday, he recorded 468 total yards and seven touchdowns. Richey accounted for four rushing touchdowns and three passing scores during the game. As a result of this weekly recognition, he is now eligible for a $1,000 scholarship at the upcoming Nexstar Sports Awards. Coaches may submit nominations for future Athlete of the Week candidates to the station each Sunday by 9 p.m.
