Boxer Fernando Vargas Jr. arrested for suspected DUI after multi-vehicle crash

Super welterweight boxer Fernando Vargas Jr. was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a multi-vehicle collision at a Universal Studios Hollywood parking lot. The incident occurred on September 10 at approximately 7:51 p.m. when California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene. According to law enforcement, officers observed signs of alcohol impairment during their investigation. No injuries were reported as a result of the collision. Vargas Jr. was transported to the California Highway Patrol Central Los Angeles Area office for processing. His case is expected to be submitted to the Los Angeles city attorney’s office to determine if formal charges will be filed. The 29-year-old fighter, who holds a professional record of 17 wins, last appeared in the ring during the September 2025 event featuring Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.
