Boxing champion Zolani Tete shot and killed in South Africa

Zolani Tete, a multiple-division boxing champion, was shot dead in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, South Africa, around 6:30 p.m. local time. Tete was ambushed by two armed suspects while returning home from the gym. Despite attempting to flee into his yard, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Tete held the Guinness World Record for the fastest knockout in boxing history and was preparing for a fight scheduled for November 29. The World Boxing Association and DAZN Boxing issued statements mourning his passing.
