Boxxer signs deal with DAZN, Williamson vs Simpson rematch set for August 8
Summary

Boxxer has signed a multi-fight deal with DAZN, beginning with a rematch between Troy Williamson and Callum Simpson on August 8. The matchup follows Williamson's upset victory by TKO over Simpson in December 2025, where he claimed the British, Commonwealth, and European super middleweight titles. Both fighters have not competed since that fight. Boxxer aims to continue its UK deal with BBC for less costly events and expand accessibility for its shows in the U.S. and beyond. Further details regarding the DAZN agreement are expected to be revealed.

(Photo by Nigel Roddis/Getty Images) | Getty Images Boxxer have announced the signing of a deal with DAZN, and an August 8 card headlined by a rematch between Troy Williamson and Callum Simpson to kick off that deal. Further details about the “multi-fight” deal with the streaming outlet are to be announced on Wednesday. For the time being, it does seem as though Boxxer’s UK deal with the BBC will continue. As a guess, the BBC series could continue for less expensive fights than Williamson vs Simpson 2, as well as allowing those BBC shows an outlet beyond the United Kingdom. In other words, BBC Boxxer shows could potentially be legally viewable in the United States and beyond, while still exclusive to BBC in the UK, while fights that the BBC deal can’t financially cover could be DAZN-exclusive everywhere. Boxxer has not had a partner in the U.S., at least, since moving from Sky to BBC. The outfit previously had a U.S. deal with Peacock when they were still with Sky Sports, but that quietly came and went without much impact. The rematch between Williamson (22-4-1, 16 KO) and Simpson (18-1, 13 KO) will come about eight months and change after their December 2025 meeting, where the veteran Williamson upset Simpson by 10th round TKO to claim the British, Commonwealth, and European super middleweight titles. Williamson had lost four of his last six and was beginning to look like a veteran stepping stone, but stunned Simpson, the fans, and surely Boxxer with the stoppage. Neither man has fought since. Boxxer and promoter Ben Shalom have also been in the news recently due to Shalom’s comments about Zuffa Boxing poaching his fighters while still under contract, and has now filed suit in the United Kingdom. Eddie Hearn has also spoken out on Shalom’s behalf.
