Boston Celtics president Brad Stevens indicated that the franchise is likely to retire Jaylen Brown's jersey number 7. This comes after the Celtics traded Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this offseason to alleviate future salary cap issues, acquiring Paul George and two first-round draft picks in return. Despite the abrupt end to his tenure in Boston, Brown spent ten seasons with the Celtics, forming a successful partnership with Jayson Tatum. Under Stevens' leadership, the Celtics have a history of honoring their legendary players, with 24 jerseys already retired in the franchise’s history.
