Braden Montgomery is set to make his Major League Baseball debut with the Chicago White Sox on June 9. The 23-year-old outfielder was called up after a strong season in the minors, where he batted.314 with 10 home runs for the Birmingham Barons and Charlotte Knights. Montgomery, a former star at Madison Central, was selected 12th overall in the 2024 MLB Draft before being traded to the White Sox in December 2024. He was also part of the MLB 2025 All-Star Futures Game roster. Montgomery’s debut adds to the recent trend of Mississippi high school talent making it to the major leagues.
