Braelyn Allen and Johnas Brewster earn weekly football honors

The San Antonio Express-News selected Johnson wide receiver Braelyn Allen and Brennan linebacker Johnas Brewster as the football players of the week for their performances in recent contests. Allen recorded nine catches for 90 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-7 victory over Austin Vandegrift. Brewster anchored the Brennan defense in a 63-0 shutout win against Reagan, tallying 18 tackles and five tackles for loss. Additionally, he caused one fumble and returned a recovered fumble for a 50-yard touchdown. Other standout performances noted by the publication included high-yardage games from Pieper’s Chase Lyons and Kerrville Tivy’s Aiden Zavala, alongside defensive efforts from Medina Valley’s Slate Crisp and New Braunfels Canyon’s Brody Schiller. Coaches may continue to submit nominations for weekly honors to the Express-News sports department by noon each Monday.
