Brandon Aiyuk faces uncertain NFL future amid contract disputes

Summary

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk remains ineligible to play after being placed on the left squad list in December 2025 due to going AWOL amid contract disputes. He failed to meet rehab targets for his torn ACL, resulting in voided contract guarantees for 2026. Aiyuk needs to contact NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to seek reinstatement, but reports indicate he is unwilling to do so while holding out for a release. The Washington Commanders were previously considered a potential destination for Aiyuk, but they have signed Stefon Diggs, further complicating his situation. Without taking action, Aiyuk's NFL career is in limbo.
