Brandon Valley takes top spot in South Dakota football rankings

SoccerBrandon Valley moved to No. 1 in the Class 11AAA South Dakota Prep Media football poll released Monday. The Lynx secured the top position after winning their season opener 10-7 against Bellevue West in Nebraska and benefiting from an O'Gorman victory over former top-ranked Sioux Falls Lincoln. Sioux Falls Jefferson holds the No. 2 spot, while O'Gorman and Sioux Falls Lincoln sit at third and fourth respectively. Sioux Falls Washington rounds out the top five following a 28-0 win against Rapid City Central. Other classes saw movement, including Yankton and Tea Area rising in Class 11AA and Sioux Falls Christian claiming the top spot in Class 11A. Competitive shifts also occurred in Classes 11B, 9A, and 9AA following early-season matchups.
