Brandon Woodruff of Brewers avoids surgery, begins throwing progression

Brandon Woodruff will not undergo surgery and has returned to Milwaukee for a throwing progression. Initially preparing for a second anterior capsule surgery after a shoulder injury on July 4, scans prompted a reevaluation of his treatment. After consulting with Dr. Keith Meister, Woodruff was advised against surgery. He expressed uncertainty about a return this postseason but remains optimistic, planning to start playing catch on August 26.
