Brauntae Johnson and Jason Onye exit Notre Dame game with injuries

Notre Dame safety Brauntae Johnson and defensive tackle Jason Onye left the field during the first half of the season opener in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Johnson suffered an injury after landing on his chest following a tackle attempt, while Onye exited the game with an undisclosed injury. Luke Talich replaced Johnson at safety, and Elijah Hughes entered the defensive line rotation in Onye’s place. Notre Dame maintained a 13-10 lead over Wisconsin at the time of their departure as the first half neared its conclusion. The team was already managing the absence of linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, who was ruled out before kickoff while recovering from November knee surgery. Both Johnson and Onye headed to the locker room before the halftime interval.
