The Atlanta Braves will release Carlos Santana from his minor league contract. The 40-year-old infielder hit.292 in 27 games with the Gwinnett Stripers after being designated for assignment by the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this season. Santana has a career slash line of.240/.351/.424 across 2,212 MLB games, with 335 home runs and 1,136 RBIs. This marks the first time he has been designated for assignment in his career. If Santana signs with another team, he must do so before September 1 to be eligible for any postseason roster.
