Cleveland Guardians infielder Brayan Rocchio delivered a historic performance in the first game of a doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers on September 4, 2026. Rocchio recorded both a grand slam and a walk-off home run, helping the Guardians defeat the Tigers 7-6 at Progressive Field. The Tigers initially held leads of 3-0 and 6-1 before the Guardians fought back to close the gap. Rocchio tied the game with his grand slam and eventually ended the contest with a solo shot in the ninth inning. This feat makes him the sixth player in Major League Baseball history to hit a grand slam and a walk-off home run in the same game. Manager Stephen Vogt noted the rarity of the accomplishment as the teams moved to the second game of their scheduled doubleheader.
