Brennan Downing commits to Navy, leads South Walton football

Brennan Downing, a 6-foot-4, 275-pound offensive lineman from South Walton, has committed to play football at the United States Naval Academy as he prepares for his senior season. Coming off an all-state campaign, Downing expressed excitement about following in his father's footsteps as a Naval pilot while pursuing his dream of playing college football. He chose Navy after meeting the coaching staff and feeling a connection with the program. South Walton aims for a successful season, with Downing leading the charge for a team that hopes to achieve a perfect record and compete for a region championship. Following high school, Downing will attend Naval Academy Preparatory School in Rhode Island before joining the Midshipmen.
