Brent Venables confirms Danny Okoye will return for Oklahoma after UTEP win

Oklahoma opened its season with a 51-0 victory over the University of Texas at El Paso on Friday. Defensive end Danny Okoye did not play in the opener and was observed on the sidelines in street clothes during the game. Head coach Brent Venables confirmed after the win that the decision to hold Okoye was precautionary and stated the player will return to the lineup. Adepoju Adebawore started in place of Okoye and contributed three tackles, one sack, and one tackle for loss to a defense that finished with four sacks and 10 tackles for loss. Oklahoma shifts its focus to a matchup against the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor next week. The availability of both Adebawore and Okoye against Michigan could provide the Sooners with additional depth along the defensive front.
