Brett Rypien signs with Texans after Graham Mertz's injury

Brett Rypien has signed with the Houston Texans following an injury to Graham Mertz. The move comes two days after Mertz tore his ACL during a preseason matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Rypien, who has played for multiple teams since entering the NFL in 2019, was a backup with the Vikings last season. He will serve as the third quarterback for the Texans behind C.J. Stroud and Davis Mills. Rypien's NFL career includes 11 appearances, four of which were as a starter, with a completion rate of 58.3%.
