Brewers prepare to take on Tarik Skubal's contract in trade talks

Summary

The Milwaukee Brewers are reportedly willing to absorb the remaining $9.4 million on Tarik Skubal’s contract as they pursue a trade with the Detroit Tigers. This move removes a significant financial hurdle ahead of Monday’s MLB trade deadline. However, the real challenge lies in whether Milwaukee is willing to part with top prospects to secure the standout pitcher. The Tigers are expected to demand a substantial return, focusing on premium young talent in exchange for Skubal, who is viewed as a valuable rental. The Brewers’ decision will weigh the short-term need for a playoff push against the long-term benefits of their strong farm system.
