Brian Farinas secures first-team spot at Barcelona following Hansi Flick intervention

Brian Farinas has earned a place in the FC Barcelona first-team squad after impressing manager Hansi Flick during the pre-season. The 20-year-old midfielder was previously expected to depart the club this summer, with a potential move to Girona falling through after Flick intervened to block the transfer. Farinas, who previously played for the club's youth setup and Barça Atletic, has demonstrated tactical flexibility by operating in both defensive and interior midfield roles, as well as at right-back. While he has yet to make an official appearance in La Liga this season, he will wear the No. 4 shirt for the senior team. Flick has publicly praised the player’s talent and commitment, noting that his versatility provides necessary depth within a crowded midfield group. Farinas now competes for minutes alongside several established first-team options including Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, and Gavi.
