Brian McLaughlin joined Celtic from the youth ranks, making his first-team debut at 19 during a 3-0 victory over Partick Thistle on 6 November 1993. The winger played for the club throughout a turbulent period, contributing to the 1995 Scottish Cup final win against Airdrie. Despite his early promise, McLaughlin struggled to maintain a consistent spot in the first team under subsequent managers, including Wim Jansen. He spent time on loan at Airdrie before departing Celtic in April 1999 to join Dundee United. Over his tenure at Celtic, McLaughlin made 86 appearances and recorded five goals.
