Brian Serven returns to majors with A's after Shea Langeliers’ injury

Brian Serven has been called up by the Oakland Athletics to fill the gap left by injured catcher Shea Langeliers. Langeliers has been placed on the injured list with a torn meniscus in his knee. Serven, 31, previously played for the A's earlier this month and has seen time with the Colorado Rockies and Toronto Blue Jays in prior seasons. He has been performing well in Triple-A, hitting.308 with nine home runs and 46 RBIs this season. The A's are expecting Serven to have a more permanent role going forward, especially with Langeliers likely out for the remainder of the season.
