Brie Bella suffers shoulder injury during SummerSlam match
Summary

Brie Bella reportedly sustained a shoulder injury during a trios match at SummerSlam on August 1. Throughout the match, she was seen holding and protecting her right shoulder. Following the event, Triple H confirmed that Bella is hurt and is currently at the hospital for scans. Speculation suggests she may have been injured during a cannonball spot executed by Jacy Jayne. The injury comes just as Brie and her sister, Nikki, were set to reunite in the ring after Nikki's recent return from injury.

During night one of SummerSlam (August 1), Brie was seen favoring her right arm throughout much of a trios match with Nikki and Paige against Fatal Influence. Later that night, WWE chief content officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque confirmed Brie was hurt when speaking during SummerSlam’s Post Show, saying she was at the hospital for scans. While he didn’t have any concrete information on the severity of the injury at the time, he did say it “seems pretty bad.” On Monday (August 3), Brie revealed she had sustained a broken shoulder blade (scapula), which could potentially keep her out of the ring for months. Meanwhile, Nikki has only just returned after being out with an ankle injury. The twins followed up the news with a video posted on their shared YouTube channel on Wednesday. In the clip, Brie said she’s still waiting to find out if she’ll need surgery, while Nikki sounded reluctant to go on another singles run. “I don’t want to do it alone. A part of me feels like I need to stay back with you and just wait for us to come back in together,” Nikki said. “It’s already been a one and a one. I don’t want to do this again without you.” Brie responded by joking: “Then don’t. Now hold my hair.” Elsewhere in the talk, which was filmed with Nikki next to Brie in bed, the sisters revealed that officials considered stopping the match at SummerSlam due to the severity of Brie’s injury. “When you broke your ankle, you continued the match, and then I broke my shoulder,” Brie said. “It’s so funny because you and I, I don’t know if it’s because we’re people pleasers, but the whole time in my head, I’m like, ‘No, I’ve got to stay in so Nikki can get the hot tag.’ “They were telling me, ‘Stay down,’ or they were thinking about calling the match. And I’m like, ‘No, no, no.’ Even though I was in crazy pain, all I could think about was, ‘Nikki’s got to hit that comeback.’” What do you think, Cagesiders? Do you think Nikki should wait on the sidelines until Brie is able to tag up with her again? Let us know in the comments.

Brie Bella is introduced before the WWE Women's Tag-Team Championship Fatal 4-Way match with her partner Paige against Bayley, Lyra Valkyria, Nia Jax, Lash Legend, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss during WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium on April 18, 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada. | Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images It was pretty obvious that Brie Bella’s right arm was injured in her trios match with twin sister Nikki and Paige against Fatal Influence on Saturday night (Aug. 1) at SummerSlam. All signs pointed to it being a pretty severe injury, too. Her body language, and then the quotes from Nikki and WWE chief content officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque Now, Brie has revealed that she broke her shoulder blade (scapula). The internet says that’ll take roughly 3-6 weeks to heal and could take 6 months or more to regain full mobility (of course, “the internet” isn’t what it once was, and it wasn’t a bastion of objective truth to begin with). Here’s Brie’s message: I wanted to thank you all for sending me all the love, warm wishes and prayers. When I was sitting in the hospital, I was reading everything you guys were sending my way, love you all!!! Unfortunately I’ll be out for a bit. I broke my scapula. If there’s one thing I know about my sister and I is that we don’t let broken bones stop us. Not sure how I finished that match, but I do believe between the adrenaline, passion for the business and the love for all the women I work with, it gave me the drive to finish. Now my new journey starts!! Buddy said he’s going to be my assistant, Birdie‘s going to be my nurse and they both told me that daddy is going to be my personal chef, so I am set!! if there is one thing I know about Brie Mode, she always finds a way to come back to her wrestling home. Let the recovery begin. The_B shared her full post earlier in The Feed (along with what their Googling told them about scapula injury recovery): Doesn’t sound like Brie’s got an easy road ahead of her, but she’s got a great attitude… and a goal to shout for in the Bella Twins reunion run she and Nikki have long wanted. Join us in sending her best wishes for a full recovery.

Brie Bella speaks onstage during the Nikki And Brie Bella SiriusXM live show from Fanatics Fest at Javits Center on July 19, 2026 in New York City. | Photo by Jason Mendez/Getty Images for SiriusXM WWE Hall of Famer Brie Bella had some good news about the injury she suffered last Saturday at SummerSlam, but even with that she’s facing a long road back. In a Post-SummerSlam edition of The Nikki & Brie Show that the Twins didn’t plan for, Brie revealed that she won’t need surgery for her broken shoulder blade (scapula). Avoiding the knife is always good in my book, and apparently isn’t part of the normal treatment for broken scapulas. The normal treatment is to just let it heal, which is a slow process. The 42-year-old is out 3-6 months — and that’s if everything goes well. “He was like, ‘It’s really hard to break your scapula. No one does surgery on scapulas. If you really want it, there is one doctor that can do it. But honestly, it’s like breaking your ribs, in a way. You just wait until they slowly heal.’ And so that’s what I have to do. From there, you guys, I’m out for three to six months. So it all depends how my scapula heals. I like to think us Bellas, our bones heal quick. But, the scapula’s kind of a tricky one.” The injury happened when Brie took a cannonball against the ring steps from Jacy Jayne. Brie made sure to say she placed none of the blame on Fatal Influence’s leader: “I do want to say that it’s nobody’s fault. My injury, it’s part of the business. I broke it on the stairs when I got the cannonball. But it was weird because when it happened, I instantly knew.” She also said she waved off the referee when he suggested calling the match, and that she tried to power through even after officials told her to stay out the action. There were spots she couldn’t take part in, however, and she worries that she made the match look “sloppy” and ruined it for the others. Her sister assured her that wasn’t the case, and put the focus back on Brie’s comeback, which will involve biweekly x-rays to see how her shoulder is healing. She’s scheduled to start physical therapy in two weeks.
