Britt Baker set to debut in CMLL tag match on October 16

"

Attention CMLL luchadoras, the doctor will see you now. Dr. Britt Baker DMD’s debut for CMLL is set. It was previously revealed that Persephone called in her friend to appear, but it was unclear what Baker’s role would be. Now, we know. Baker teams with Persephone for tag team action against Tessa Blanchard and Thunder Rosa in Arena Mexico on Friday, October 16. The opponents make sense for a variety of reasons. Persephone holds the CMLL Women’s World Championship, and she has fended off Blanchard from the gold thus far. When Perse’s reign eventually ends, Blanchard is as good as anyone in CMLL to be the top candidate to dethrone her. Persephone is also beefing with Thunder Rosa, who holds the Mexican National Women’s Championship and has an eye on the TBS Championship. Baker is bloody rivals with Thunder from AEW, and the DMD has history with Blanchard fighting each other for titles in various indie promotions. Blanchard holds a strong lead in victories in their personal series, but this was before Baker became a breakout star in AEW. This matchmaking is also interesting to note that it will be Blanchard’s first match against an AEW star in CMLL. Blanchard has weathered several controversies in her career ranging from racism and bullying to contract issues and more. Many fans wondered if AEW would steer clear of her, even for matches in other promotions. The tag team bout is part of CMLL’s all women’s event.
