Brock Purdy leads San Francisco 49ers into fifth NFL season

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy begins his fifth NFL season Thursday night against the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia. Since 2022, Purdy has maintained a 104.0 passer rating and enters the season following work with quarterbacks coach Mick Lombardi. The quarterback continues to balance his religious faith with his professional responsibilities as a starting NFL player. Purdy, the final pick of the 2022 NFL draft, recently signed a contract worth $265 million. He remains a key figure in head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offensive system. His leadership style, which incorporates both prayer and unfiltered language on the practice field, has drawn praise from former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Steve Young.
