Brooklyn Nets focus on player development for the 2026-27 season

Summary

Following a 20-62 record in the 2025-26 campaign, the Brooklyn Nets are entering the 2026-27 NBA season with a retooled roster. The team traded for forward Julius Randle this summer to provide veteran leadership alongside Michael Porter Jr. The organization is prioritizing the development of their young core, specifically the five players selected in the 2025 NBA Draft. Guard Egor Demin remains the most prominent player from that class, while rookie Mikel Brown Jr. is expected to compete for immediate rotational minutes. Preparation for the upcoming season is scheduled to begin later this month. Coaches and front-office staff aim to assess how quickly the younger roster members can contribute alongside the established scoring threats of Randle and Porter.
