Summary

The Cleveland Browns have hired Mike Rutenberg as their new defensive coordinator, replacing Jim Schwartz. This change comes as the team aims to build on a defense ranked in the top five for the past five seasons. While Rutenberg plans to maintain some successful elements of the previous scheme, he will also implement new tactics, particularly in coverage, to create challenges for opposing quarterbacks. Early in training camp, Browns players noted improvements, with the defense making 14 interceptions in the first nine practices. The adjustment allows the defense to maintain an aggressive pass-rush approach while enhancing coverage abilities.
