Browns coach Todd Monken reflects on Jets' past decision before matchup

Summary

Browns head coach Todd Monken returns to MetLife Stadium on Sunday, recalling the Jets’ decision to hire Adam Gase over him after a 2019 interview. Monken received a message from a Jets official stating, "Don’t ever forget that you’re a Mercedes when you look in the mirror," implying that team preferences shape hiring decisions. Since that choice, the Jets have had a dismal coaching record of 36-85. Monken, now in his first year with the Browns, has led the team to a 3-1 start after three consecutive wins, while the Jets sit at 1-3 after struggling in their recent game with just 157 yards of offense.
