Bruin Agbayani joins Mets, continuing family legacy in MLB

Bruin Agbayani was traded to the New York Mets from the Minnesota Twins as part of a deal for A.J. Minter on July 31, 2026. His father, Benny Agbayani, expressed excitement about his son joining the Mets, a team where Benny became a fan favorite from 1998 to 2001. Bruin, who suffered a shoulder injury limiting him to 15 games in his early career, is expected to start with High-A St. Lucie as he works his way back to full fitness. He had hoped to join the Mets during the 2025 Draft but was selected by the Twins instead.
