Bruno Fernandes details Harry Maguire's response to Manchester United captaincy change

Bruno Fernandes has revealed the private conversation he had with Harry Maguire when he replaced the defender as Manchester United captain in July 2023. Fernandes noted that Maguire displayed respect during the transition, telling his teammate he deserved the role and expressing hope that Fernandes would become a great captain for the club. Despite the change in leadership, Fernandes stated his behavior on and off the pitch remained unchanged. Maguire, who initially faced criticism during a difficult period, has since regained his status as an important member of the squad. Under the management of Erik ten Hag and later Michael Carrick, Fernandes continues to serve as captain. The midfielder has recorded 329 appearances and 110 goals for Manchester United to date.
