Bryce Harper plays outfield for Phillies in win over Nationals

Summary

Bryce Harper returned to the outfield for the first time since 2022 during the Philadelphia Phillies' 5-0 victory over the Washington Nationals on August 4, 2026. The move came after the team acquired Luis Arraez, leading to adjustments in the infield and Harper taking over right field. Harper recorded the first out of the game with a catch off a line drive hit by Dylan Crews. He acknowledged the adjustment required in playing the position again, particularly with tracking fly balls. This arrangement is expected to be temporary as the team reconfigures its lineup and looks to compete for the postseason.
