Bucs sign safety Xavier Williams after minicamp tryout

The Buccaneers announced the signing of safety Xavier Williams on August 9, 2026. Williams joined the team as a college free agent following a successful tryout at their rookie minicamp. He played at several colleges, concluding his career at the University of Cincinnati, where he recorded 39 tackles in 12 games last season. In a corresponding move, the Bucs waived cornerback Chase Lucas due to a failed physical. Lucas had played 15 games last season after spending time on practice squads with the Lions and 49ers.
