Bully Ray expresses boredom with current wrestling storylines

Bully Ray, aka Bubba Ray Dudley, has never been one to shy away from sharing a controversial opinion. A recent appearance on the Busted Open podcast further proved this point when the WWE Hall of Famer said that he’s “very bored” with the current state of wrestling programming. The subject came up while he was discussing a segment on the June 5th episode of SmackDown which involved GUNTHER wanting a stipulation for his rematch against Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes following their Clash in Italy bout. Busted Open co-host Dave LaGreca asked Bully about his thoughts on GUNTHER wanting a stipulation, and the tag team legend at first gave it a thumb’s up to the concept before admitting his overall general boredom with wrestling. “I like it. I like anything different. Dave, I’m very bored with pro wrestling for the most part,” Bully said. “Nothing really gets me going. Every once in a while in the WWE, every once in a while in AEW, every once in a while in TNA, something catches me, something resonates with me, where I’m emotionally invested. But for the most part, I’m very bored.” He then went on to explain that wrestling being too “safe” made him less interested in the product. “Everything is very cookie cutter. Everything is very safe,” the New York native said. “I would say maybe AEW, if there’s risks to take, AEW will take some more of the risks. Having the heel make the stipulation, you’re like, ‘Isn’t this weird?’ It’s different. And I’ll take different right now. I’ll take anything that doesn’t look like the same old, same old.” As for recent examples of matches that Bully felt worked and weren’t too cookie cutter, he cited Oba Femi against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42 as well as CM Punk versus Roman Reigns at the same event. “Every once in a while, we get something really great,” he said. “But for the most part, everything is very safe.” What do you think, Cagesiders?
