Byram Hills and Lakeland secure narrow boys soccer wins

Boys high school soccer competition intensified during the week of Sept. 7 as several teams met for the Westchester vs. Rockland Showcase. Byram Hills defeated Tappan Zee 1-0 behind a goal from Ryan Jakubek and five saves by goalkeeper Carter Rice. In a closely contested match at Lakeland, the host team earned a 1-0 victory over Pearl River after Christian Moscati scored with two minutes remaining. Other action included Scarsdale posting a 4-2 win against North Rockland and Albertus Magnus shutting out Valhalla 3-0. Keio also recorded a win, dominating Nyack in a 6-0 result as Jo Watanabe scored five goals. The regular season continues throughout the week with a full schedule of games slated across the region starting Tuesday.
