Byrum Brown debuts as dual-threat quarterback for Auburn against Baylor

Auburn quarterback Byrum Brown is set to showcase his rushing ability during the season-opening game against Baylor on Saturday, Sept. 5. The matchup is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Brown, who has been in non-contact protocol during preseason practices, joins the Tigers as one of five active FBS quarterbacks with a 1,000-yard rushing season. During his previous campaign, he threw for 3,158 yards and added 1,008 rushing yards. Head coach Alex Golesh previously noted the physical constraints placed on Brown to protect him during the spring and summer sessions. Teammates, including center Cole Best, anticipate Brown playing without restriction during his first appearance in a regular-season uniform for the team.
