BYU Cougars hire Patrick Mutombo as assistant basketball coach

The BYU Cougars announced the hiring of Patrick Mutombo as an assistant coach on Monday. Mutombo joins the program in Provo following two years of experience as an assistant coach with USA Basketball. The move fills a vacancy on the coaching staff created two months ago when former assistant Will Voigt departed to take a similar role at Boise State. Mutombo brings his professional background to the BYU bench as the team prepares for the upcoming season. He previously served in the NBA before his stint with the national program. His addition completes the coaching transition initiated by Voigt's departure earlier this summer.
