Cade Tyson returns to Minnesota Gophers program pending eligibility status

Cade Tyson has officially rejoined the Minnesota Gophers program as he seeks a fifth year of athletic eligibility. The forward, who led the team in scoring last season with 19.6 points per game, remains ineligible under current NCAA rules following a recent Tenth Circuit stay in the Wisne vs. NCAA lawsuit. Minnesota coach Niko Medved confirmed Tyson is currently working with the program as the legal situation remains unresolved. While there is no definitive timeline for a ruling, the university indicates that Tyson would occupy a Designated Student-Athlete spot, allowing him to stay on the roster without counting against the team's cap. The Gophers are scheduled to begin their exhibition slate against Omaha on October 15. Tyson stated his intention is either to return to Minnesota or begin a professional career, with no plans to transfer to another institution.
