CAF supports FIFA and Infantino amid backlash over apology statement

Summary

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has expressed its backing for FIFA and President Gianni Infantino in light of recent criticisms. This support comes after FIFA issued a formal apology concerning the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) scandal, which sparked backlash from organizations like UEFA and FIFPRO. CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe emphasized that adherence to governance and transparency is paramount for African football. In contrast, UEFA continues to threaten a boycott of FIFA competitions unless specific demands are met. The recent developments follow a crisis meeting held by FIFA in Morocco, which culminated in the apology acknowledging errors in the FFE proposal.
