Cageside community ranks wrestlers after Week 5 of Season 15

This week, we’re voting on nationally televised and internet streaming pro wrestling shows that took place June 14-20, 2026 — New Japan’s Dominion, Raw, NXT, Evolve, Dynamite, Impact, ROH on HonorClub, SmackDown, MLW Fusion, Collision, AAA & CMLL’s weekly shows, and everything else I’m no doubt forgetting. But first, here’s the outcome of last week’s voting, and how those results changed our annual competition for the Cageside Cup. There’s only one word to describe the whole Knickshausen phenomenon… Being crowned NXT Women’s North American champ is impressive, but its nothing against the uncursed powers of the newly crowned King of New York. The Men’s Intercontinental champion retained against lucha legendary Rey Mysterio to finish right in front of a man seeking redemption from Mysterio and the whole lucha libre world. Fifth place went to a Queen for advancing toward a Queen of the Ring crown during the week that was, while sixth went to AEW’s Most Dangerous for earning a spot in the Owen Cup final. The Owen’s tragic, amazing, inspiring underdog was next. The handsome man behind her will probably ask how I know he was eighth (it’s because I double-check my tabulations). We close out our latest Rankings with a Young OG who made an impressive King of the Ring run, and the AEW OG who got two wins over STP in his hometown. The CCWR: 2026-27, Week 8 1. Danhausen 2. An impressive, decisive first round King of the Ring tournament win allowed The Ruler to just eke out victory over the new Women’s Intercontinental champ. Blameless for the MSG loss thanks to the arrival of a Very Cursed, Very Orange scapegoat, our current Cageside Cup leader finished one spot ahead of an Aerial Assassin who advanced to the Owen Cup final in a match so good in landed Bruv’s dance partner a share of ninth place. The CEO’s triumphant return to AEW put her at the head of a group that included Women’s titleholders from MLW and WWE (SmackDown division). Walking the path of redemption earned the former El Grande Americano a spot in our latest weekly Top Ten, which was rounded out with The Visionary after he got a measure of revenge against The Vision. A German impersonating an Americano pretending to be a Mexican, adored by wrestling fans around the world? Qué gran momento para estar vivo. Our second place finisher’s umasking per tradition was as powerful as the match itself. We’ve got to give it to the S.O.B. Three World titles by 30 is a hell of a feat. It also helped the Devil grab a few more points than AEW’s new International champ, who also broke free from The Callis Family at Double or Nothing… although it cost him a friend. Next was our lone Top Ten finisher who wasn’t at that AEW PPV or AAA Noche de los Grandes. He’s Very Nice, Very Evil, and he’s ruining Miz’s life. From the world of Lucha Libre, we had AAA’s new World Cruiserweight and Latin American champs in sixth and tenth, respectively. From the world of Tony Khan, we had the Japanese star who’s still Continental champ (and still Don’s favorite), and a pair of my fellow Gen X-ers splitting a spot for winning their first tag titles together since before we all had to worry about having “dad bods”. This is about how he rolled up on a certain skater as I was tabulating last week’s ballots … We loved the last couple victories of Dangerous Darbs’ AEW World title reign, but the WWE Men’s Intercontinental champ got top billing on Peacock and had a great dance partner in our Egotistical 6th place finisher. He doesn’t love them as much as human monies, but you love to give the Very Nice, Very Evil One votes*. Those allowed the bad ass beardos who fought an Anything Goes match on Dynamite to round out the Top Five. Already told you about 6th, so… now we’ll tell you the fighting NXT Women’s North American champ was after him, followed by an air guitar maestro who had Jon Moxley’s number until he earned his respect at DoN (but that’s next week’s vote). We round things out with the luchador who taught us all that a Mexican is born wherever the hell they please, and the former WWE Women’s champ who led her team to a Saturday Night’s Main Event win over a trio with 22 main roster singles titles between them.
