Callum Smith completes first track test in custom-built Team BRIT racing car

Rookie driver Callum Smith completed his first test session in a specially modified race car at the Donington circuit this week. Smith, who was born without arms, steered the vehicle using foot-operated controls installed during a summer-long modification process led by Jim Doran Hand Controls. Team BRIT, an organization specializing in cars for disabled drivers, oversaw the session with veteran GT3 driver Paul Fullick providing guidance from the passenger seat. While the initial run highlighted minor ergonomic adjustments needed for the steering system, both the team and driver expressed satisfaction with the car's baseline performance. Smith must now refine the vehicle's setup and demonstrate the ability to exit the car unaided to secure a racing license. He is currently working to acquire sponsorship to advance his status to a full-time driver for the team.
