Callum Smith prepares for first test with Team Brit at Donington Park

Rookie driver Callum Smith is scheduled to test his specially adapted race car at Donington Park on September 2. Born without arms, Smith joined Team Brit after a successful evaluation at Silverstone. The team, which competes against able-bodied drivers across the UK, utilizes a BMW 1 Series with modified foot-operated controls installed by Jim Doran Hand Controls. Smith operates the steering wheel with his left foot while managing the accelerator and brake with his right. To secure a professional racing license, he must demonstrate the ability to exit his vehicle unaided within 10 seconds. He is also currently seeking sponsors to cover £50,000 in costs for equipment, tuition, and vehicle modifications.
