Canal Edge proposes new Chicago White Sox ballpark at The Railyards

Justin Ishbia and the Canal Edge development company have released plans for a new White Sox stadium site known as The Railyards. Located along the Chicago River directly west of The 78 and the future Chicago Fire stadium, the proposed design features an open-air layout with brickwork intended to mirror the aesthetic of Comiskey Park. Renderings indicate the stadium would orient home plate toward the downtown skyline, with a right-field section positioned near the river to potentially allow for home runs to land in the water. The project faces significant hurdles, including the current operation of active railyards at the site and the requirement for municipal approval and infrastructure funding. Although the White Sox do not currently have an ownership change, the development follows a succession plan that would place the team under Ishbia’s control by the time any facility could be completed.
