Canterbury Bulldogs sign rising Dragons prospect Api Amone to long-term contract

The Canterbury Bulldogs have secured a contract with 17-year-old prospect Api Amone, who will transition from the St George Illawarra Dragons system. Under the reported agreement, which runs through the 2029 season, Amone is expected to join the club's development squad while progressing through their pathways. The middle forward previously captained the Harold Matthews Cup side for the Illawarra Steelers and earned representative honors in schoolboy rugby league. Although primary roles involve playing as a lock, the Warrawong-born athlete has also spent time at five-eighth. This acquisition aligns with the broader strategy overseen by Phil Gould to strengthen the Canterbury Bulldogs junior base within New South Wales. Amone is the brother of Talatau Amone, a former Dragons player who is currently competing in the QLD Cup.
