Cape Fear beat Jack Britt 21-13 in a defensive battle on Friday, Sept. 4, at the Boneyard. The Colts returned to action following an unexpected Week 2 bye caused by weather. Cape Fear took a 7-0 lead into halftime after a shovel pass from quarterback Tres Daughtry to Jackson Carte. Jack Britt tied the game in the third quarter after a special teams error by Cape Fear set up a rushing touchdown for Tyler Shakir. The Colts responded with a methodical drive capped by a Roderick Williams touchdown run and a successful two-point conversion. Although Peter Figueroa scored late in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 15-13, the Buccaneers failed on their subsequent two-point conversion attempt.
