Capitals loan Oliver Suvanto to Tappara for development

The Washington Capitals have loaned their 2026 NHL Draft first-round pick, Oliver Suvanto, to Tappara in Finland for the 2026-27 season. This move follows Suvanto's signing of a three-year entry-level contract. Ranked as the top international center by NHL Central Scouting, he is returning to Finland for further development after scoring 11 points in 48 games in the Liiga last season. Suvanto, who played for Finland in the World Junior U-20 Championships, will not join the Capitals immediately, as the team aims to enhance his skills before bringing him to North America.
