The Cardiff Devils secured a 3-1 victory over the Guildford Flames in the Challenge Cup at Vindico Arena on September 13. Guildford initially took the lead on a goal from Cole Sandford less than three minutes into the game. Josh MacDonald leveled the score for the Devils with a deflected shot before the end of the first period. In the third period, Kohen Olischefski netted the go-ahead goal, assisted by Joey Martin, who reached 700 points in Elite League history. Nick Welsh added a final goal with under three minutes remaining to seal the result. Netminder Ben Bowns stopped 45 of 46 shots to earn man of the match honors. The Devils travel to face the Coventry Blaze on Sunday.
